Integrated Production (IP) programs rely on the use of plant protection products on key species of crops, fruit plants and vegetables. Listings of all categories of pesticides (fungicides, herbicides, insecticides) help farmers choose an appropriate plant protection product to reduce pest damage. The staff of research organizations prepare materials to advise farmers on the integrated use of pesticides for plant protection. Plant protection products are grouped by harmfulness to humans and warm-blooded animals. The programs do not advocate the use of pesticides labelled as toxic.
