New methods of integrated cherry production (link)
The Chief Plant Health and Seed Inspector has approved a new integrated sweet cherry production methodology. This collective work has been written by a team of the Skierniewice Institute of Horticulture led by Dr. Agata Broniarek-Niemiec. The official approval of the methodology will allow producers participating in the national IP food quality system to grow sweet cherries.
Methodology of monitoring and control of the spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) (link).
The spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii, Matsumura) is a new invasive pest originating in Japan that causes severe economic harm to soft fruit farms across the US and Europe. In Poland, this pest has been monitored since 2012 and has shown to have strong adaptation potential. To control it properly, e.g. by chemical measures, it is essential to detect it early. A detailed methodology for monitoring and controlling this emerging harmful organism is presented in the Plant pest reporting and monitoring methods/Multivorous pests section.
